BENEFIT European Analysis

Statistics demonstrate that most of the students with disabilities (over 95%) are served in a regular school environment, however the data that is publicly available is focus mostly on pre-primary, primary and secondary education. Very little data is available for tertiary education, creating the need to establish the current statistics and future trends that are part of inclusive higher education.

The main goal is to fully examine the state and challenges in current implementations of higher education for specific target groups aimed at increasing their inclusion. The analysis is broad and multinational, including project partners from different EU states.

Work Package 2 (WP2) focuses on conducting a comprehensive analysis of inclusive higher education across the partner countries involved in the project. This analysis aims to identify the current state, challenges, and future trends related to inclusive education for individuals with disabilities, particularly in higher education. The findings contribute directly to the broader project objectives by providing insights and actionable data to improve inclusion in tertiary education systems.

Key Objectives
The main objectives of WP2 are to:

  • Assess the current statistics, challenges, and trends in inclusive higher education across partner institutions and countries.
  • Examine inclusive education methods for different types of disabilities.
  • Engage teaching, administrative, and learning staff to enhance their capacity for supporting inclusive education.
  • Produce a detailed, multinational report that serves as a foundation for further research and activities in subsequent work packages.

Key Outputs and Impact
The primary result of WP2 is a comprehensive report on the state of inclusive higher education in the participating countries. The report includes:

  • Quantitative and qualitative data on inclusive education practices.
  • Factors influencing inclusivity and potential solutions.
  • A detailed overview of trends and challenges, offering practical insights for improvement.

This analysis will serve as a critical resource for partner institutions and other EU higher education institutions (HEIs), acting as a reference for addressing challenges and identifying opportunities in inclusive education.
